Our Experience

As time passed and I began to remember Stephen’s last wish. To go back. I decided to organize a trip back to the Mississippi gulf coast to pick up where we left off as a Memorial to him and Joe Woods, another good man who had also been on the trip and recently died from cancer.

We returned with 50 volunteers. That initiated a relationship with Kathleen Johnson, a journeyman carpenter from New Zealand. Kathleen had come to help with the work and ended up establishing her own relief organization in Waveland, Mississippi, Hancock County, which was the epicenter of the hurricane.

Our Plan


Our initial focus will be working with families in our community who need help with repairs, maintenance or modifications of their homes. This would include senior citizens, families with members who have disabilities and families in other crisis.

We have built a wonderful relationship with the Gwinnett County Senior Services Department who as invited us to take the lead in working with senior citizens that they serve who have home improvement issues. This is a tremendous vote of confidence on their part, to share this population with us, trusting that we will treat them with compassion and give them excellent service with the highest integrity.
